About this text
The Home Blessing Ceremony is a traditional ritual to pray for peace, health, and harmony for the family. It is usually performed at the beginning of the year, on the first or fifteenth day of the lunar month, or whenever the family wishes to increase blessings and dispel misfortune. This simple ceremony can be done at home, bringing family members together and focusing the mind on goodness.
Preparation & offerings
Prepare a clean altar with offerings: incense, fresh flowers, candles or lamps, clean water, and fruit. Dress respectfully and keep a sincere, calm mind during the ceremony.

Prepare the altar respectfully, arranging all offerings: incense, flowers, lights, water, and fruit.

Light incense, join your palms, and focus your mind on the Three Jewels.
- 3nguyện hương
Incense prayer: With sincere heart, I send this fragrant incense, respectfully offering to Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Saints in all directions, bearing witness to my devotion.
- 4lễ Phật
Respectfully bow to the Three Jewels: Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha as witnesses.
- 5lễ Phật
Respectfully bow to all Bodhisattvas, especially Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva for compassionate protection.
- 6lễ Phật
Respectfully bow to Dharma Protectors and Heavenly Beings, asking for blessings for my family.
- 7lễ Phật
Respectfully bow to ancestors and departed loved ones, asking for their protection and support.
- 8tụng
All present now recite: Great Compassion Mantra three times or the Universal Door Chapter (as appropriate).
- 9niệm danh hiệu Quan Âm
Homage to Great Compassionate Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva (recite 21 times).

May all family members be peaceful, harmonious, fortunate, and free from misfortune.

May our household prosper, work go smoothly, studies progress, and all wishes be fulfilled.
- 16tụng Tâm Kinh
All present now recite: Heart Sutra.
- 17hồi hướng
May the merit from this ceremony be shared with all, so that we and all beings may attain Buddhahood.
- 18tam tự quy
I take refuge in the Buddha, vowing that all beings understand the great way and develop Bodhi mind. I take refuge in the Dharma, vowing that all beings deeply understand the teachings and gain vast wisdom. I take refuge in the Sangha, vowing that all beings live in harmony without obstacles.
