Trúc Lâm Pagoda (Hòn Tre)
Khánh Hòa(Chùa Trúc Lâm (Hòn Tre))
Overview & history
Trúc Lâm Pagoda is a pagoda built in 2008, located on Hòn Tre Island, Nha Trang City, Vietnam.
Pagoda Space
Trúc Lâm Pagoda is a newly constructed pagoda with a total area of over 33 hectares. The pagoda is designed as a complex of many pagodas built close together; in addition to the main hall, there are also auxiliary buildings surrounding it with 72 statues of the Buddha. The pagoda bears the architectural style of pagodas in Northern Vietnam. The curved roofs and ancient atmosphere, with all main materials such as columns, beams, and walls made of wood, contribute to this style.
The pagoda features a 10-ton statue of Quan Âm Nam Hải Buddha facing the sea like a lighthouse, serving as a spiritual symbol for fishermen in the Nha Trang Bay area to look towards before each voyage.
Significance of Activities
On 25 September 2008, the Khánh Hòa Provincial Buddhist Association organised the "Lạc Thành" ceremony to inaugurate Trúc Lâm Pagoda (Hòn Tre–Nha Trang) and put it into operation.
With Trúc Lâm Pagoda in operation, favourable conditions were created for monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers to practise their religious beliefs. At the same time, it also serves as a cultural site for tourists visiting Nha Trang–Khánh Hòa.
