Nga My Pagoda
Hà Nội(Chùa Nga My)

Overview & history
Hoàng Mai Pagoda (temple name: "Nga My tự") is located at No. 8 Hoàng Mai Street, Tương Mai Ward, Hà Nội (formerly part of Hoàng Mai Village in the Kẻ Mơ area), but is actually situated within alley 160 and alley 94 of Hoàng Mai Street, Tương Mai Ward, Hà Nội. According to a stone stele in the pagoda, the pagoda underwent major renovations in the 28th year of Hồng Đức (1497), comprising the front hall, incense burning house, and upper hall. The stele also states that the pagoda was built immediately after King Lý Công Uẩn moved the capital from Hoa Lư to Thăng Long.
History
The pagoda was established in 1497, and has undergone multiple renovations and was destroyed (during wartime). The pagoda features an eight-roofed bell tower, with architectural style from the Nguyễn dynasty.
The system of Buddha statues in the pagoda is quite complete, created in the 19th century, including an Amitābha statue in the artistic style of the 17th–18th centuries, and a Three Buddhas statue set from the 19th century. All the statues and worship objects are valuable, especially the Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva statue on the main hall altar, which art experts highly value for its 16th–17th century sculptural artistry.
On 05/02/1994, the pagoda was classified as a historical, architectural, and artistic relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information.
In July 1998, Bhikkhuni Superior Nun Đàm Hảo, Bhikkhuni Superior Nun Đàm Kim, and Buddhist followers restored the Main Hall, East Hall, West Hall, and other structures.
In February 2002, the Patriarch Hall was restored and a lecture hall was built.
Currently, Superior Nun Thích Đàm Hảo and Superior Nun Thích Đàm Kim are the abbesses.
