Chân Tiên Pagoda (Hà Tĩnh)
Hà Tĩnh(Chùa Chân Tiên (Hà Tĩnh))
Overview & history
Chân Tiên Pagoda, also known as Chân Tiên Tự, is located on Tiên An Mountain in Thịnh Lộc commune, Can Lộc district, Hà Tĩnh province. Chân Tiên Pagoda was built during the Trần dynasty (13th century). The pagoda consists of two buildings: the one on the left is dedicated to the Buddha, and the one on the right is dedicated to the Holy Mother. The building on the left, dedicated to the Buddha Patriarch, is constructed of mortar in the four-pillar architectural style, has three compartments, and is surrounded by enclosing walls. The pagoda is roofed with scale-shaped tiles; on either side of the pagoda's veranda are altars to two officials: the Civil Official (on the left) and the Military Official (on the right). The building on the right, dedicated to the Holy Mother, includes structures such as the Upper Hall, the Long Đình palanquin, and the Worship Hall. These structures are all decorated with quite elaborate patterns and motifs such as dragons, the Moon, flowers, and leaves. The pagoda currently preserves a number of rare worship artefacts, such as Buddha statues, incense burners, drums, incense tables, Buddhist flags, and more.
In 1992, Chân Tiên Pagoda was recognised by the Ministry of Culture and Sports as a National-level historical and cultural site.
